Karen is a wonderful teacher. I have been blessed to have been a participant in her socially distanced ongoing Tai Ji - Qigong class at Campwoods Grounds. The spot that she intentionally chose for instruction on the lawn, under a grove of ancient oak trees is lush and shady adding a refreshing level of natural comfort to the session.
In teaching, Karen models and explains not only the motions but the meaning and purpose behind them. Gradually increasing the intensity and duration of the movements with the ability of the group she is respectful of her students, making individual modifications as needed.
The opportunity to be a part of this community class has been a life saver for me during these challenging and stressful times - Karen has taught me how to breath, be still, and ultimately experience and recognize the power of my own life force. After surgery for a brain tumor three years ago and a subsequent stroke, I was left with right sided weakness and balance issues. However, since starting her class, my balance is better, and with the stretching exercises, I have more use of my right hand. Karen is funny, smart, kind, and a strong leader who guides her students in a supportive and caring environment. I leave every class feeling peaceful and tranquil, and use the tools I’ve gained in class throughout my day. I’m so thankful to Karen for opening my eyes and heart to Tai Chi - Qigong. The outdoor Tai Chi - Qigong class is a great way to get exercise and clear my mind. I like that it is low impact, but really works my muscles, especially after sitting in front of a computer all day.
